Railway NTPC Exam Pattern 2024
In this section, we will discuss the exam pattern for the RRB Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) vacancies.
The NTPC exam generally consists of multiple stages:
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) Stage 1
- Duration of examination: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by scribe)
- Total Number of Questions: 100
- Subjects:
- General Awareness: 40 questions
- Mathematics: 30 questions
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 30 questions
- Negative Marking: Yes, 1/3rd of the marks for each wrong answer.
2. Computer-Based Test (CBT) Stage 2
- Duration: 90 minutes (120 minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied by scribe)
- Number of Questions: 120
- Subjects:
- General Awareness: 50 questions
- Mathematics: 35 questions
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 35 questions
- Negative Marking: Yes, 1/3rd of the marks for each wrong answer.
Railway NTPC Selection Process 2024
The selection process for the NTPC vacancies involves the following stages:
1. CBT Stage 1
This is the initial screening test. The marks obtained in this stage are used to shortlist candidates for the next stage.
2. CBT Stage 2
Candidates who qualify in CBT Stage 1 are eligible to appear for CBT Stage 2. The marks obtained in this stage are used to shortlist candidates for subsequent stages based on merit.
3. Typing Skill Test/Computer-Based Aptitude Test (as applicable)
- Typing Skill Test (TST): Applicable for posts like Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, etc.
- Typing Speed: 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi
- Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Applicable for posts like Traffic Assistant and Station Master.
- Candidates need to secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.
- No negative marking in CBAT.
4. Document Verification
Candidates who qualify in the previous stages are called for document verification. During this stage, candidates must produce all necessary documents/certificates in original.
5. Medical Examination
Candidates who successfully clear document verification are subjected to a medical examination to ensure they meet the medical standards required for the post.
6. Final Merit List
The final selection is based on the merit list prepared by considering the marks obtained in CBT Stage 2, Typing Skill Test/Computer-Based Aptitude Test (where applicable), and performance in document verification and medical examination.
